DRACONIC EXTENDED

What is this?
This is a fun little side project where I’ve described (expanded upon) the fictional language of “Draconic”. This is by no means official, but is partly based on and inspired by the world of D&D. My goal with this project is to create a cohesive, believable and functional cross-section of Draconic that can be used for any of your dragonborn needs. This is also a work in progress, so it’s subject to being updated.
The document is a bit too long to embed directly in this page, so the button below will take you to the full doc which contained a detailed description of the phonetics and grammar, the extended dictionary, and a bunch of examples.
The Script
Iokharic script is used to write draconic (among some other languages). The history of the symbols is unclear, but it is thought one way or another to have originated with dragons, albeit after the language was already developed. It is an alphabet containing digits 0-9 as well as the 26 english alphabet symbols. There is no capitalization, and the punctuation includes a full stop, pause, emphasis and quotation markers.
Many of the symbols have a common “centerline” around which other markings are made. This line serves as a kind of anchor when writing, and punctuation is vertically aligned with this point.
The design of the symbols is clearly derived from claw marks, but we can imagine that “modern” draconic writing would be done with brush strokes, mimicking the original scratch marks.
Here you can see the digits 0-9, followed by the letters a-z, then the full stop, pause, quotation, and emphasis symbols.
The Iokharic script symbols came from a player handbook, but some symbols were added. The original symbols are letters a-z and numbers 1-9. I found this font which also had a 0 included. I modified it to include the other functional symbols, you can download that below!
